Satsuma orange, also known as mikan, is a Japanese variety of mandarin orange that is seasonally available in winter. These citrus fruits have a strong aroma of mandarin orange and tangerine with a juicy interior that is sweet with a refreshing acidity. Satsuma oranges have little to no seeds and soft, loose skin that can be easily peeled. These oranges are hand-harvested to preserve the integrity of the thin skin and manually check for ripeness.
