D'anjou, also known as Beurré d'Anjou or Anjou, is a green-skinned pear with a short neck and egg-shaped appearance. Anjou pears are an all-purpose pear that is suited for various applications: it is excellent for eating raw, grilling, baking, poaching, and roasting. Anjou pears are mild and sweet flavor with a soft texture and succulent bite when ripe. Anjou pears do not change color as they ripen: they will remain green. When the flesh near the stem gives slightly when pressed, the pear is ripe.
